My family popped in for a quick visit over the weekend. It’s convenient that we’re only about 7.5 hrs away making visits like this possible. It was so fun to have them here. I haven’t seen my mom or bro for 9 months and my dad or sis for 5 months. Unfortunately, I was lacking in the picture taking department AGAIN so I stole whatever pics my mom took. Here are a few from our relaxing weekend together:

I’m assuming many have never heard of carmel, indiana. I hadn’t until we started looking at places to live around Indianapolis.

Besides the fact that everything you could ever imagine exists in Carmel. There are a two notable mentions.
the land of fortresses.
The first week we drove to church I noticed there were tons of ginormous houses with their properties gated along with several gated communities. First thought: wow this is a ritzy area! In fact, just 2.5 miles from our apartment, I noticed a realty sign for a 55,000 sq ft home for sale on 40 acres of property for $9.9 million. It sparked my curiosity so I did some research. And found this - Le Chateau Renaissance. This house has everything you could ever imagine! And it’s dropped from $25mil to $9.9mil. That’s a steal! If i had a little more money, I’d consider it SOLD. :)
colts players. what?
Another exciting thing about Carmel is that we go to church with 2 Indianapolis Colts players as well as an ex-colts player. In fact, we actually have 1 of those Colts players living in our apartment complex. So I pretty much see him on a regular basis. We’re pretty much BFF’s now. JK. But I do see him frequently. I just haven’t worked up the nerve to say anything to him yet. AHH!! To respect their privacy (because I’m nice like that), I will not mention any names (although I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to figure out).
So basically what I’m trying to say is COME VISIT US because it’s really fun to stalk Colts players while pretending your BFFs and drive around dreaming of owning a ginormous house…
Ryan spoiled me on mother’s day and cooked me the most delicious meal. He has been dying to try Julia Child’s beef bourguignon ever since we saw Julie & Julia. So he bought all of the stuff and whipped it up like a master chef. He actually combined 2 of her recipes but I don’t remember what the other one was called. All I know is it was SOOOO good and the pictures totally don’t do it justice.
And a quick shout out to our moms, who are the most amazing women. If I can be half the mother you both are, I will be feeling pretty darn good about myself. Thank you for everything you do for us!!

My camera consists of 5 pictures from March 1st until now. How sad is that?? Shows how eventful our life is! Actually, it’s kind of eventful. March was the month of putting in my resignation to work, packing, saying goodbye to very close friends, and moving.

Giving my 2 weeks notice was harder than I could have imagined it. I loved my job so much. I worked with some of the best people I’ve ever met. People who truly wanted to help others and loved their job. I learned so much from them. And my kids! What can I say, I sure learned to love them. Thinking about them now still makes me emotional and I find myself wondering how they’re doing. It was such a rewarding job (after the initial ‘why in the world am i doing this?’ phase, of course).

We had a ton of packing to do. In fact, we packed our entire house and moved it to storage. Ugh! What a process. You don’t realize how much CRAP you have acquired until you have to pack it. So fun!
saying goodbye.
It makes me want to bawl to think that we might never see some of our closest friends in a long while. Our Rexburg chapter has kind of closed. We most likely won’t be back and if we do, few of our friends will be there. We’ve had some good times in Rexburg. In fact, we fell in love, dated for 2 years, got married (well technically we got married in Canada), graduated, and bought a new house all in the Burg. Good times!

On March 31st we left for Indianapolis. We arrived on April 3rd thanks to part of the highway being closed in Wyoming due to a storm. Bleh! The drive was rather uneventful; however, we rather enjoyed being stuck in a car together, watching movies, talking, eating, and listening to music. It was like a 3 day party. We arrived safely and have quickly settled in.

Well we’ve been here for a month and a half. Ryan is working hard knocking doors and I’m working not so hard being the office manager. I love the area we are in. It is great! I have a grocery store 1 block away and within 5 miles we have an awesome mall, Walmart, Target, a million yummy restaurants, 2 hospitals and pretty much anything you could ever want/need. We haven’t been up to a whole lot since Ryan’s job is pretty demanding. But we have managed to fit in a little fishing here and there at the small lake our apt complex has.
Ok so I know this isn’t a very important event but the ducks are just so silly I had to share a couple pictures (plus all of these posts are based on whatever pics I have on my camera…which aren’t many). Ry and I went to feed ducks on a Sunday afternoon (Feb. 28 to be exact) in the Burg to get rid of some of our nasty freezer burned buns and spend some time giggling. The ducks are seriously so obnoxious and hilarious. Anyway, here’s a couple pics for your enjoyment!

Happy Love Day (3 months ago today)!!!!
I celebrated my 26th birthday back on Feb. 6th. I’ll be honest, it was kind of a rough birthday but Ryan did his best to make it special. I had to work (unpaid training on a Saturday to be exact – which would naturally put anyone in a bad mood) and it was a super looooong day. I felt like everything that could possibly go wrong that day was going wrong. And it ended in a lot of tears. But the celebrating part was great minus one incident.

THE INCIDENT - Brooke made me a delicious cake filled with surprises. Her family has a tradition of putting coins in the cake, each symbolizing something of the cake eater’s (aka whoever finds a coin in their cake piece) future. Ry thought he would be hilarious and fake choking to freak Brooke out for putting coins in the cake. Instead it backfired and I totally believed he was choking and just stood there in shock as Jeff started to do the Heimlich on him. They broke from it shortly after and started laughing as I started shaking and bawling. I was so scared!!! Not a very nice joke to play on my bday.

I ended the day hoping that my birthday wasn’t an indicator of how the year was going to be. So far, so good! I’m pretty sure I was just being a spoiled brat that day though. I mean, it was my birthday :)
