Boy? Girl? or...

kidney stone!?!?!

Name: Kevin the kidney stone
Born: Tuesday, May 12th at approx. 6:00pm
Weight: very light
Height: 2-3 mm

ya...that's right. i had a kidney stone. we've decided it's our new pride and joy and we carry him proudly in a ziploc bag. he's been getting alot of attention these days. i'll admit...he's not very cute and my ureter absolutely hates him. but we're happy he's out.

wanna hear the story??
i woke up at 5:30am and jumped out of bed thinking i had to urinate {seeing as that's usually the reason i'm awake before 8:00am}. i quickly realized something was eating my insides and i was in an intense amount of pain (words don't even exist to describe it). i woke ryan up with a deathly "ryan, i think i'm dying" as i hobbled from the bathroom back to the bedroom. he jumped out of bed and gave me some ibuprofen and bread. but i knew something serious was going on. i was pretty sure i was dying. and if i wasn't, i sure as heck wanted to be dead. so we headed off to the ER.

after...
  • taking dumb turns via the gps
  • a 2 hr wait in the ER waiting room
  • puking my guts out
  • cold sweats
  • shaking profusely (convulsion style)
  • more pain than you could ever imagine
  • IV
  • blood sample
  • urine sample
  • some drugs (unfortunately i got these after already enduring 4 hrs of pain)
  • CT scan

... i was declared a victim of kidney stones.

my very attractive self, after the drugs, showing off my "pain" face

i was released from the hospital around 11:30am with plenty of drugs and passed the stone after my much needed nap.

can i just say i would NEVER NEVER wish a kidney stone on my worst enemy.

oh...and PLEASE remember to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. PLEASE!!! {i'm not even joking}

ps. if you're wondering, the top picture of the kidney stone next to the penny is my actual kidney stone. i took that pic. cute huh?

Btw- you are dang brave for posting a pic! I wouldn't let Christopher take one pic during my surgery or recovery. Oh, PLEASE send me your number!!!

Oh my gosh Jacq! you poor thing. How can something so teeny be so terrible! I've heard kidney stones are like the most painful thing! I hope you never get one again!

Jacquie, that sounds absolutely and ridiculously dreadful. I am not impressed that your body decided to conjur (sp?) up this little specimen for you.
I'm so glad its over! ugh!

Jared told me you had a kidney stone...glad he finally made his way out of you- not sure how I feel about the ziplock baggy but am pretty positive I want to meet him.

Have you ever seen the Friends episode were Phoebe is having the triplets and Joey has a kidney stone. The dr is indian and keeps telling Joey it is a "kidney stoooone". That's what this post made me think of : )

Oh Jacquie you look like you were in so much pain. I wish I had taken a picture of Josh at his worst too. LOL I love his name. I'm so glad it came out as quickly as it did too! Well hang in there sweetie. Hopefully this is the only one you will have in your life time.

Oh my gosh Jacquie I am so sorry you had a kidney stone! I have never had one and hope I never will! It's crazy that something so small can hurt so bad! I will make sure to drink a ton of water for sure! I hope you're feeling better!

Mmmmm . . .I love kidney stones too! But I must "one-up" you because the one I had was 5 mm. It would not pass and my body was basically exploding, so they had to do surgery.

My sister, who has had 3 children (using no drugs whatsoever) and has had a kidney stone experience of her own, says that kidney stones hurt a thousand times more than childbirth . . . looks like having kids will be easy for us Jack!!!

oh my gosh! i can't believe you had one! i got one in rexburg when me and eric were first married i woke up and was in excruciating pain. i couldnt even straighten up to walk and i thought i was dying too! i layed by the toilet for like 20 minutes until i could finally get myself into the car and i had to drive my self to the doctors with a grocery bag on my lap for puking because eric was in class! it was seriously the most pain ive ever been in. maybe more than labor pains! i am so sorry you had to go through that! it's terrible!

Eeeewww!!!

This was hilarious, but obviously it sucked you-know-whats so now you have my pity. So seriously, drinking lots of water will prevent this? Because I NEVER want that to happen to me!

Plus, we don't have health insurance. Hehe.

OH my gosh Jacquie! You will not believe this but I JUST went through that EXACT same thing 2 days ago. I seriously even called my mother in-law and told her to come get me and take me to the hospital...did she show, no...lol so I passed it later that day all on my own lol. Hurts so bad though eh!
