She’s a rollin’

She can roll! This week Harper discovered the beauty of rolling over. It started Tuesday when Ryan put her on her tummy while he ran to do something. He came back and she was on her back. She did it a couple more times that night and the next day. Then Friday she was laying on her back playing with her rattle while I was doing dishes. I went in to check on her and she was on her stomach. Now she’s loving it, although she can’t quite figure out how to get her arm out from under her. Hmmm…

Here are a few recent pictures:

Left: Just sitting and being very cute while mommy makes breakfast {at 6am. AHHH!}

Middle: Harper took a nap with mommy in mommy and daddy’s bed {but mommy had too much to do to nap quite as long as Harper Girl}. It was probably the most scrumptious nap ever!

Right: Harper’s first try with rice cereal. She liked it but was getting frustrated trying to get it down. She was so messy, although you can’t see it all that well in this picture.

Well, that’s all for this week. I’ve been blog slacking lately. I’m cool like that.

Moo

It’s calving season and Harper and I went with Ry to check on all of the cows and their babies. He does a check everyday just to make sure there aren’t any problems. Lately he’s had a few problem cows/calves and has been coming home telling me how he’s an adoption counselor, obgyn, lactation consultant, etc. Next time I might just have him deliver our baby!

Anyway, here’s a couple pictures from our outing with daddy -

I posted this picture because I think it is so cute and disgusting. CUTE? The little baby calves. I just love them! DISGUSTING? Look very closely at the mama’s mouth…ya, that’s remnants of her afterbirth. GROSS! Seriously though, what if we ate our afterbirth? Ok, bad thought. {I think I just puked a little in my mouth}

A Strange and Yummy Delicacy

I was looking through my pictures the other day and came across some photos that were intentionally taken for a blog post but never happened. Why, you ask? Well I took them roughly 6 hours before I woke up to my water breaking. So ya, obviously this got neglected.

Anyway, around here rocky mountain oysters are a delicacy. Ryan brought some home to cook up and was cleaning them when I took these shots.

Do you know what they are? Let’s just say…they are very yummy. Kind of like chicken nuggets when cooked properly!

Let me know if you want to come to dinner! You are always invited!

Harper Girl

Winter7

Disclaimer: Contrary to what the above pictures might make you believe, Harper smiles ALL of the time and has the cutest smile I’ve ever seen. The only problem is when I pull out my camera to take a picture she makes the above face and just stares at it. Such a silly! One of these days, I’ll get a good smile.

And a little bit of my recent journal entry on Harper’s development, if you’re interested…

March 9, 2011

Harper has changed so much in the last week. Not only does she look so much older to me, but she’s made a lot of developmental changes. She has begun to recognize smiles and will smile back at you. She talks A LOT more. She loves to carry on conversations and has the cutest cooing and babbling. She is also beginning to giggle. She giggled for the first time for Grandma Bedke on Feb 25th and has done it about 5 times more in the last week. It’s the cutest thing ever. She is getting closer to being able to sit up. If you sit her up, she can hold herself up for a few seconds. When she is lying down, she always tries to pull herself into a sitting position. She has become a lot wigglier. She will squirm right out of her bouncer chair if we don’t buckle her in. She has started to enjoy tummy time because she is better able to lift her chest completely up so she can see. She can also roll to her side when she is on her tummy, which means she’ll probably be rolling over very soon. If you hold her hands she will stand up for a while. Her legs are very strong. She’s also beginning to learn that she has control of her hands and is becoming a little more deliberate about using them. And she found her feet! She still hasn’t discovered the joy of playing with them or sucking on them, but she found them. It’s so fun to watch her grow and develop. I love you Harper Girl!

Go Josho!

 Winter6

We went up to Rexburg at the beginning of the month to sell one of our houses. While we there, Josho {aka my brother}had a championship floor hockey game. We decided to go cheer him on. Harper was very content just watching everything going on around her {even though it was very past her bedtime}.

And Josho’s team won. The score was 13-18 {or something like that}.

ps – has anyone been to BYU-I since they completed all of the construction??? Holy Moly! I’m so jealous of all the new facilities. They are AWESOME!

The Bedke Girls

We threw a baby shower for my sis-in-law Brooke who is due in May. We took this picture while we were all together and I love it!

Crazy Hair

This is what static electricity does to Harper’s already crazy hair!

Love it!

patty cake, patty cake

I’ve been baking a lot lately. Here’s a few of the things I’ve made:

  • Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Brownie Covered Oreos
  • Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread
  • Bread – picture below is prebaked
  • Rolls – still working on perfecting these
  • Cherry Pie – came out PERFECT! I’ve mastered the art of crust making – SO FLAKY!
  • Chocolate Covered Strawberries
  • Ganache Truffles
  • Buttermilk Pie – SO GOOD and so fattening…crust made with lard; pie filling made with butter, sugar and milk {and if you’re not playing close enough attention like me, you’ll double the butter content…even better}. YUMMY!

What have you been baking lately? Any good recipes for me to try?

Giggles

I finally caught Harper’s giggling on camera. It hasn’t been a frequent occurrence, but is becoming progressively more frequent. Today she laughed more than I’ve ever heard her laugh.
