Happy 4th of July *** last week

Did you do anything fun for the 4th?

We sure did! I dressed my kiddos in festive clothes dropped them off at Grandma’s house and went to our house to work the day away. Pretty sure I spent the day patching walls and sanding. Woot woot!

We celebrated the holiday for real by quitting a couple hours early {we’re talking 8pm} to eat dinner and watch fireworks at Ryan’s parent’s house.

Waiting for the fireworks to begin:

Shortly after this picture was taken, an ember from the sparkler landed on her foot. She was a little concerned about it and bent down to look at it and then started crying. Grandma whisked her off to the house to look at it. There wasn’t really a mark on her foot, but something did smell like burnt hair. Ryan discovered that she was missing half of her left eyebrow. Harper must have singed it a little while bending down to look at her foot. She wasn’t overly concerned though; she just kept gesturing that she wanted to go back outside for the fireworks. She didn’t want to miss anything!

This was after the incident. She still wanted a sparkler real bad. So she played with one safely wrapped in a blanket on daddy’s lap.

On Friday night, she started retelling the story of what happened over and over. It’s really funny. I’m going to see if I can video it, but basically she makes firework gestures with her hands saying “psh, psh” then points to her toe. Then she makes firework gestures and noises again and then points to her eyebrow. Then she makes firework gestures and noises again and then starts clapping. You can totally tell what she’s saying: There were fireworks and then my toe was hurt. There were fireworks and my eyebrow burned a little. There were more fireworks and we clapped. And she kept doing this whole routine over and over and over and over. She’s such a funny girl! {And too smart for her own good}

We hope you had an excellent 4th of July and celebrated as awesome as we did!

Oh you just made me laugh out loud. I can't believe she tells the story of what happened. That is so darn cute. And great pictures of all of you. But I have to say you and Ryan look a little tired. LOL Thanks for posting pictures even with your busy schedule. :)
