September Recap: Adventures of Living in Limbo

Here is a recap of our September. We extended our selling season for the month of September in order for Ryan to hit his sales goals {which might I add, he has done a mighty fine job doing. I’m so proud of you babe!!!}. It turned out to be quite the adventure.

MOVING

We moved a total of 5 times:

1. Indianapolis, IN to Springfield, MOIMG_1274

2. Springfield, MO to Dodge City, KS

IMG_1300IMG_1301

In Dodge City, we had to move rooms 2x while we were at our hotel which was such a hassle (consider we are hauling our entire life around with us); however for a major portion of the week we scored the presidential jacuzzi suite because that’s all they had! SCORE!

3. Dodge City, KS to Garden City, KS

I had been craving chocolate ALL month but kept putting it off. Finally at about 11pm one night in Garden City I couldn’t fight the cravings anymore. So I went to Walmart in my pj’s and grabbed myself a rather excellent selection of chocolatey goodness.IMG_1309

4. Garden City, KS to Wellington, KS

In Wellington, we checked into our “motel” and it was absolutely terrible. I mean this place was a dump – smelled like smoke, everything was dirty/grimy, there were slight poop stains on the sheets, and the door had a huge gap when it was shut and bugs were coming in and out. There had to have been bed bugs too. I really wish we took pictures. We all lasted a few hours but nobody could handle the nastiness of it all so we moved to a hotel in Wichita.

5. Wellington, KS to Wichita, KS

We are currently in Wichita but will be leaving for Houston, TX tomorrow to visit Ryan’s mission for a week. That means tomorrow is the last day of sales!! WOOHOO!! And just over a week until we’re finally home. Hallelujah!

We drove a total of 1230.5 miles moving from place to place.

FOOD

I cooked 2 full meals on our electric skillet in a hotel {ya, that didn’t last long…such a pain!}

Washed MANY dishes in the bathroom sink.

We ate out 24 times.

We ate at hamburger joints (Wendy’s, McD’s, A&W, etc) 7 times.

We ate at Taco Bell 6 times.

Needless to say, we are SO sick of fast food and SO ready for home cooked meals.

CLOTHES

We are living out of small suitcases, which can only hold so much. So our daily wardrobe selection consists of the same 8 shirts and 3 pairs of shorts/pants. Nice!

I did a total of 6 loads of laundry.

2 of those loads I did by hand in the tub of our hotel room {due to the lack of laundry facilities}.IMG_1302

PREGNANCY

Survived weeks 27 to 30 throughout it all!

ps – Am I seriously 30 weeks already??? I can not believe how fast December is creeping up on us. I have so much to do when I get home. AHHH!!!!!

Baby Bedke Update

It appears as though we have less than 100 days before we meet this lil munchkin! It’s so exciting how fast time is flying yet so scary all in one. I absolutely love being pregnant (minus the massive amounts of rib pain that have existed since week 12)!  Feeling our little girl move is the most amazing feeling in the world. We already love her so much…it’s crazy!

Here are a few pictures of our baby girl at 24 weeks {yes – almost a month ago}. We had a continuation of the 20 week ultrasound because they couldn’t get a good picture of the heart at 20 weeks. Lucky for us we were able to see how much she had grown in 4 weeks and our ultrasound tech even gave us a sneak peek at her face in 3D. AMAZING! {ignore the trashy extended stay hotel room in the background ~ yes, we are currently living out of a hotel!}

And now for the less cute part - what do I look like carrying this munchkin around all day?? Well see for yourself…IMG_1285

Last Chance

In less than 12 hrs we’ll be getting our 20 week ultrasound. AH! That means you only have about 2.5 hrs left to get in on the fun and vote here on whether you think it’s a boy or girl! So if you haven’t done so yet, go do it! To all those who have voted so far – YOU ROCK! Thanks for playing along :)

I’ve started getting all nervous about the ultrasound lately. I mean, I’m still super excited, but what if we find out something is wrong??? I’m just keeping the faith and after tomorrow morning all will be known…

ps - team girl is winning but barely!

let’s be blatantly honest…

I’ll start!

Blog music is kind of annoying {no offense to anyone}. I more often than not mute my computer when I land on a blog with music. I used to have a long playlist, but I got rid of it after I realized I hated always having to mute it when I went on my own blog. Just the other day when I revamped my blog I added it again. And I only added 1 song. Yes, I still mute it almost every time I go on my blog to check for all those darling comments that you leave me! Now let me explain. When I was rearranging things on the blog, I kept thinking of the song ‘lucky’ and it seemed to fit the ambiance I was going for so perfectly. So I added it knowing I was taking a very annoying risk. Here’s the thing…do I leave it or delete it??? Obviously if I leave it I’ll add more songs. I’m not sure anyone can sanely handle the same song playing over and over {that is if anyone even hangs out here longer than a song’s length}.

So…let’s be blatantly honest here. Do you like it? Do you hate it? Do you mute it every time? Does it make you want to stab me in the eye? Or does it set the mood for your blog visit?  Maybe you’re a weirdo and like the 1 song playlist?? Or has ‘lucky’ been driving you absolutely crazy?

Tell me what you think. Tell me everything! Just let it all hang out. I really honestly want to know.

Total Money Makeover Update

books

Do you remember this post from October?  I briefly introduced you to The Total Money Makeover and I haven’t talked about it since. Well I’m here to tell you…

“WE’RE DEBT FREE!”

Wow! That felt good. Dave Ramsey always has people calling into his radio show sharing success stories and he has them yell “We’re Debt Free!”. We talk, eat, sleep, breathe and live The Total Money Makeover. Dave’s ideas may be simple and logical, but he has such a great simple plan of attack! We just wish we would have started when we were first married…

baby-steps

*Baby Step 1: $1000 to start an Emergency Fund – Done.

*Baby Step 2: Pay off debts – Done. The only debt we had was our cars {besides our mortgages}.  So we sold them in November. That’s right, we decided we didn’t NEED 2 cars and we didn’t NEED our new car. So we got rid of them. It was so hard to get rid of our camry {we bought that car brand spankin’ new and loved it}. But we did it! We bought a used car – a 2003 toyota corolla, which we paid off in 6 months. We paid off approx. $18,000 of debt in 8 months!!! It feels oh so good. You should try it!

*Baby Step 3: Build your Emergency Fund (3-6 months of expenses) – Currently working on. Hoping to have this done in 6 months or less.

*Baby Step 4: Invest 15% of income into retirement funds

*Baby Step 5: Build college fund for children

*Baby Step 6: Pay off home mortgage

*Baby Step 7: Build wealth and give!

Yes, we’re only on Baby Step 3 but it usually takes people a couple years to get there. We did it in 8 months!!

So…what do we suggest?

1. Don’t use credit cards. If you do, pay them off every month. We’ve always lived by this motto!

2. Make a budget and stick to it. Dave Ramsey has great budgeting forms here that we use monthly.

3. Don’t go into debt for anything {except for MAYBE a house}. It’s our new goal. Pay cash/check for EVERYTHING including big ticket items, cars, etc. Debt isn’t worth it! If you want something, save up for it!

4. Don’t spend money you don’t need to. Make sacrifices. Be creative!

Check out Dave Ramsey’s site www.daveramsey.com or read his book The Total Money Makeover or listen to his radio show!

{Note: No, this is not a paid endorsement. I just love this and strongly believe that everyone should jump on board. So go try it. NOW. It’s seriously SO FUN!!!!! that’s not a joke}

lonely. i’m mrs. lonely.

First off, a big THANK YOU to all those who have voted so far! {I’ve noticed several of you have voted on the wonky poll on the sidebar…did anyone else notice it deciding to change your vote without getting your permission?} We still need 9 comments with your guesses for the victory dance to make it’s way to the blog. Keep the votes coming!

And sorry for the short blog hiatus! I was doing so well for a few days. It’s because Ryan was gone on a little sales trip. I always find myself turning to the blog when he leaves me. With that said, I bet you can tell when he came home and when he left again! Yes, he came home late saturday and left this afternoon until late saturday again. I HATE HATE HATE when he leaves because:

a. my house stays too clean

b. it’s too quiet

c. i stay up way too late

d. i don’t leave my bedroom {except to eat}

e. i eat too much junk food & not enough real food

f. and last, but definitely not least, i have no husband!!!!

Let’s just say it just downright SUCKS!

So here’s to a few days of loneliness…

see you in a few hours!
