we've been doing a lil traveling the last couple days for ry's job...hence the lack of posting. i figured since i had a couple minutes and i highly doubt that i'll be jumping on to blog tomorrow (turkey wipes me right out), i'd wish you all a happy thanksgiving while i could. so...

ry and i went to see the twilight movie today. i'd have to say it was pretty good. i mean, they had to condense a 500 pg book into 2 hrs and lets be honest the book isn't completely action packed. the great thing about the book is it gives sooooo much detail so you can visualize everything perfectly and completely. so turning all that detail and lil action into a movie made it kinda SLOW. and the movie just didn't have enough time to perfectly develop the relationship between edward and bella. but it was definitely a good effort!! and...it seemed pretty low budget. but all in all i was satisfied!

i have 2 choices...

have you ever gotten to the point where you thought you just couldn't take anymore trials and pain?? and just when you thought things were getting better...they get 50,000x worse!!!! well in the thick of it all, through the tears and the pain, i've decided i have 2 choices:

#1 - bask in the pain and get really mad at God. wonder if God really loves me so much, how He could put me through all of this. wonder how life could be so unfair. isolate myself and cry all day in my bed. lose faith and hope. be negative and bitter. hate the world. give up.

#2 - turn to my Heavenly Father for comfort. trust in Him. realize things happen for a reason. find strength and support through my family and friends. go to the temple and pray ALOT. serve others. smile. laugh. cry...but healthy tears. count my many blessings. "come what may and love it"~elder wirthlin.

boys will be boys!

this is what was going on at our house until 4am this morning...

ryan bought the new call of duty for xbox360 and our house has become quite the happening place. they're so entertaining to watch. they play it so much that a couple of them (one being my husband) are now dreaming about it. how sweet!

we did it!

with the help of my darling husband we got most of the chores done. i only have 3 things left to do: organize the office, do the finances, and clean the windows. and those aren't quite as mandatory as the others. oh and the scentsy party is at 5...so only a couple more hours and i can check that off too!

after scrubbing the bathroom, i came back on for a lil peak at the blog and i had so many cute comments. thanks for all your willingness to help!! maybe one day i'll take you up on your offer :)

Saturday: things i should do, but probably won't do

there are so many things i've been needing to do for the last week but i keep putting them off until saturday because that's the perfect day to do chores, right? well...i woke up again and once again don't feel like doing any of it. so i thought i'd post all the things i need to do and see if by admitting that i'm a complete loser about chores lately it would motivate me to get them done. so here they are:

1. sweep and mop the kitchen floor
2. organize the pantry
3. vacuum
4. dust
5. clean the bathrooms (they're really getting pretty gross)
6. do laundry
7. clean/organize the office (what a disaster)
8. update budget spreadsheets
9. clean windows
10. clean out the fridge
11. scentsy party (ok i have to do this one, but this one is fun!)

i'm pretty sure there is more but that's all i can think of. isn't it disastrous? please tell me i'm not the only one who needs to do ALL these things!! i'm making myself sound pretty lazy. well to be honest, i kinda am right now.

through it all...

i love my life!! despite all of the trials, discouragements, and tears...i sure as heck love my life. i couldn't have asked for a better life if i wanted to. i don't have to shower until 5pm if i don't want to. i can eat celery and peanut butter whenever i want. i can take ry to school in my pjs. i can listen to christmas music. i'm healthy. i'm married to the most handsome, loving, sweet man in the world. i have the greatest family (both mine and ryan's). i have the bestest, most supportive friends. i have a beautiful home. i've graduated! i know the Gospel is so true. i can communicate with my Heavenly Father and receive personal revelation. but the best part...i am a child of God!

how can life not be great? seriously!

i know, i know. it's not even thanksgiving yet. but most of you gave me the go ahead to decorate my house with christmas stuff if that's what i felt like. well, i do but i can't because i love my hubby way too much. so i'll wait until after the american thanksgiving and then deck the halls. but...nobody can limit me on how i decorate my blog. so i did it!!! i am now officially celebrating christmas on my blog. how exciting is this?? i will update the header soon so it's a better match with the background. i just need to get my hands on a good christmas pic and then bust out my skills... :)

dc office retreat

so this past weekend we had a retreat for all of the guys in ry's office this past summer and coming back next summer and potential recruits. we didn't have as great of a turn out as we were originally planning on, but it was SO FUN with those that were there. i can't stop thinking about how much fun we had!!!

we went to a cabin in soda springs, id. it was literally in the middle of nowhere...there was no cellphone service. but it was so great, because i didn't have to cook for everyone :) the wife of the owner did the cooking and i was more than happy to relieve myself of those responsibilities. ok, this may be a picture overload...but i have so many fun pics to share. enjoy!

on the way to the cabin, ry and i stopped at this natural spring that actually has like carbonated water coming out of it (hence the name soda springs, i think). we just had to try it! it tasted like carbonated sulfur water. it wasn't really good at all but we kept drinking it cuz it tasted so weird. lol. it was cool.

rethinking christmas

so i saw this short video on my friend's blog and i really wanted to pass it on. i think it has an amazing message. i know i always get caught up in the hype of christmas...giving and getting the biggest, best present for each of the 20+ people on my list. and of course it gets expensive. maybe we should refocus christmas on jesus christ, the true meaning, and start giving gifts of love and meaning. just something to think about.

i LOVE christmas!!!! it's probably my favorite holiday (minus the cold and snow). i absolutely love the sounds and the music and the feeling and the decorations and picking out the perfect gifts and all that good stuff. and i know it's only november 6th and i'm dreading the cold and the snow, but i REALLY want to put up my christmas decorations. is that bad? ry said i can't put them up until after thanksgiving and i know i won't win this one. but deep down i just really really want to. so i was just wondering...when do you put up your christmas decorations? am i just a big fat loser for wanting to put them up right NOW?

the chocolate update!

so i know most of you are on the edge of your seat wondering what i ever decided about my chocolate dilemma. i went just shy of 5 weeks with no chocolate. on the 33 day mark we went home for ry's brothers bday and with a little family convincing, i gave in and had some birthday cake. it was a german chocolate cake made by ry's sis and it was probably the best german chocolate cake i've ever had. she did an amazing job. anyway, after that i felt really guilty about it. so...i'm back to no chocolate. i've decided that for special occasions then maybe i'll give in. so there you have it! i am no longer a chocaholic! YAY ME!!!

no more fish bowl for us...

for those of you who have been wondering when we'd ever get out of our fish bowl...we finally got blinds yesterday (thanks to the ever so wonderful backend check)! it's so nice to not be on display for all our neighbors. i'm sure they got amusement out of watching us live our lives, but the time has come to close that chapter of our lives and start living in privacy! so, if you've been avoiding coming over for fear of being in the fish bowl...fear no more. come on over.
AND today we got new phones. ryan's phone was on it's death bed and mine was just lame. so we renewed our plan and got ourselves some sweet phones. ry stuck with the blackberry family and got a pearl. i opted out of the motorola family and got myself a lg rhythm. it's a pretty fun phone.

AND yesterday ry went to a metallica concert in salt lake (which he said was absolutely AMAZING) and i got to go shopping at gateway, ikea and tai pan. oh i was in heaven!

oops!

ok so i really messed up big time. i was trying to delete my recipe blog (because i never use it anymore and i'm pretty sure nobody reads it) and it deleted my main blog instead. i'm not really sure why cuz i'm 100% that i was in the recipe blog settings. i was trying to get blogger to recover my blog but i'm not patient enough and from doing some research it could be weeks. so...i guess i just have to start from scratch. lame!

maybe sometime i'll add all my old posts...i'm gonna have to be pretty dang bored tho :)
